Visit to Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Montgomery County

I had the pleasure of meeting this morning with members of the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Montgomery County. Repeatedly, throughout the morning, I was asked about my business experience, so I mentioned my work building two job creating online education businesses. I was asked repeatedly about my economic development experience, so I mentioned my work co-creating the American enterprise zone program, holding the top post at HUD as our federal government's lead economic development officer, and managing the Cleveland economic development agency. Most of all, I was asked about my platform. When I spoke of the need to cut corporate taxes to offset the added costs to small business of an increased minimum wage, of the need to make more online skills training available to small business managers, and of the need to expand our county's use of enterprise zones ... well, I sure got a LOT more people volunteering to hand out my palm cards to their colleagues and neighbors. All in all, a great morning!
