SNAP Challenge
Today, my wife Eti and I signed up with others from our synagogue for the SNAP challenge. For the next week, we will join others to experience what life is like for millions of Americans in poverty who rely on federal sustenance to stay alive; and we'll be spending no more than the $4.20 daily per person allowed by federal law for food and drink.
After just one day living like this, I can tell you my first reaction: it's a moral disgrace that our nation treats its most vulnerable people this abominably.
I'll keep you posted of my progress throughout the week.
