Progressive Neighbors
I’m writing this from the Silver Spring Civic Building, where the annual legislative forum of Progressive Neighbors has just ended. How inspiring! I loved what Jamie Raskin and Roger Manno had to say. I saw lots of old friends - mostly activists in our shared long-time fights for affordable housing and LGBT rights - and made some wonderfully passionate new activist connections.
In many ways, I regard today as the start of my campaign for the Maryland House of Delegates. It felt good to start it among so many friends. I couldn’t help but notice the juxtaposition: outside, the snow was falling in the dark, bitter cold; inside, the warmth was enjoyed by all.
So too with Progressive Neighbors: may it always be a source of warmth in a world that is all too often dark and bitterly cold.
